Take this if you

DO
You’re ready to do the work, sending those emails, following the step‑by‑step plan, and actually applying what you learn. You’ll get real guidance from me, 1:1 reviews of your emails, help deciding whom and when to contact, and honest feedback at every step. If your university offers TA/RA roles and you want to pay $0 like I did at UIUC, this course is built for you, fast to complete (even in a weekend), practical, and proven to save $60 k–$90 k per year.

DON'T
Your university doesn’t offer TA or RA roles, check this before enrolling. Some programs, like professional MBAs, short one year master’s programs, or fully online degrees, rarely have TA positions. And if you’re not ready to put in the work, sending emails, following the timelines, this might not be useful for you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Some answers to some frequently asked questions.
Can I get a TA position in my first semester, or do I need prior research experience?
Yes, you can get it in the first semester, but only if you apply strategically. Most students wait until their second semester, but departments with high undergrad enrollment need TAs every semester. Even if you don’t have research experience, solid academic performance, a relevant undergrad background, and strong communication skills can help you land one immediately. We train you on how to email professors before arriving on campus, which increases your chances drastically.
How competitive is it for international students?
Highly competitive if you wait to apply on-campus. But emailing professors early + showing teaching/tutoring experience boosts chances by ~3x
How many hours per week does a TA work?
Usually 15–20 hours/week (grading, labs, office hours). Visa rules limit you to 20 hours during the semester.
How much does a TA actually save me per year?
On average, $50,000–$80,000/year (tuition + living stipend combined) depending on the university and location.
Can undergraduates apply for TA positions?
Yes, but rarely with tuition waivers. Undergrad TAs are mostly paid hourly ($10–$15/hr). Graduate TAships are the ones with full waivers.

Hi 👋 I’m Jugal, your instructor for this course
I’m a former TA at UIUC who covered my entire tuition and living costs as a master’s student. I created this course to show you, step by step, how to land a Teaching Assistant position in the US, even if you’re new to the process. You’ll get my exact email templates, real case studies, and personal guidance to help you secure a TA or RA, save $60k–$80k a year, and take control of your grad school finances. If you’re ready to take action and want honest feedback and support, you’re in the right place.
